Azure Database for MySQL Now in Preview

For this exercise, I also turned off SSL enforcement.  It’s a throwaway database server.  I just wanted to be sure that I could connect using a typical MySQL tool.

I launched Workbench and connected:

Although the Azure Database for MySQL offering is still technically in preview, this new offering looks very promising – especially for people like me who would like to make use of MySQL in Azure for WordPress deployments.  If you are a WordPress geek as I am, the availability of Azure Database for MySQL is great news.
